The Vine John 15:1-11

The Vine The Vine (vs 1) “I am the true vine” (vs 1) Jesus is contrasting himself with nation of Israel (Ps. 80:8-16; Is. 5:1-7) Jesus is saying that the true people of God are now those connected to me

The Vine The Gardener (vs 2,3) God the Father is the gardener The gardener cares for and tends for the vineyard. Works to see as much fruit produced as possible Cuts off branches that don’t bear fruit. Prunes branches that do bear fruit

The Vine The Gardener (vs 2,3) What does it mean that God cuts off branches? Doesn’t mean that Christians can lose their salvation (John 10:28,29 Refers to those that have the appearance of Christians but are not truly regenerate Ex. Judas & Disciples that left Jesus (John 6:66)
