Islamic State (IS)

!!!The Beginning!!! IS was an affiliate (branch) of Al-Qaeda. It used to be called ISI (Islamic State of Iraq), also known as AQI (Al-Qaeda in Iraq) they fought against the U.S. and the Iraq government. By December of 2011, the U.S. military had withdrawn (left) Iraq, allowing ISI to grow stronger, for the Iraq military was not strong enough to fight them.

!!!Civil War in Syria!!! On March 15th, 2011 a civil war broke out in Syria, between U.S. backed rebels and the Syrian government, backed by Russia. On April 8th, 2013, ISI moved in to fight the government, at times receiving American aid (just like during the Cold War). The terrorist organization now became known as; ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) Levant means Middle East. ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria).

!!!The Empire!!! On June 29, 2014 ISIS/ISIL declared itself the WORLD WIDE CALIPHATE, pretty much the world wide Islamic Empire, in which all Muslims must obey them. A terrorist organization literally became it’s own country.

Some ISIS Laws Women are told they should not go outside unless necessary, because their place is to provide stability at home. They must wear full, wide Islamic dress Stealing or looting will result in the amputation of limbs Criminals can be crucified (this law quotes a verse from the Quran) Muslims must participate in group prayers at mosques ‘on time’ Muslims will be well-treated, unless they are allied with oppressors Drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes are banned Rival political or armed groups are also banned Police and military officers will be given the chance to repent Apostasy is punishable by death and carrying flags, except those of the Islamic state, is not allowed Graves and shrines are forbidden, and will be destroyed

!!!IS on the run!!! Both in Syria and Iraq, thanks to more troop build ups, and U.S. troops in both Iraq and parts of Syria, IS is being defeated!!! However, IS fighters are now spreading out around the world, like in France, England, and America, they are going back to committing acts of terror instead of trying to take over land.

???What to do with IS??? 1st paragraph (at least 5 sentences): It seems every time we or someone else leaves a country, some bad guy takes over. Except for South Korea, where the U.S. has been there since 1950. As President, how will you prevent history from constantly repeating itself. Should the U.S. have troops in every country ALL the time? Should we spend a lot of money on other countries militaries to “beef them up”. Would you just let the world fall apart and just stay in America. What would you do?????????????????????????????? 2nd paragraph (at least 5 sentences): Now that IS is on the run, how do you prevent terrorists from attacking all over the world, like what just happened in Barcelona Spain? Do you prevent any refugees from coming into the country, what about the innocent children? Do you let everyone in, or just a few? What about the American citizens that have joined IS and have returned? What about American citizens that never fought for IS but like them and want to fight in America? What about privacy rights?
