QUEER INDIGENOUS GATHERING STALL SEAT JOURNAL DIVISION OF SOCIAL SCIENCES  WINTER 2017  WEEK 9 QUEER INDIGENOUS GATHERING QUEER FILM FESTIVAL Join the QRC along with the WRC and the MRC on Friday, March 10 from 5:30-7pm in the Meese Auditorium for the Queer Film Festival. This event aims to highlight the representation of intersectional gender identities through short films and encourage people to realized the importance of representation of identities in pop culture and other forms of media. There will also be an art gallery exhibit and a discussion panel portion to the event. On March 15th from 5-8pm join the Queer Indigenous Studies course and the Queer Resources center for the 2nd annual Queer Indigenous Gathering. This is a free event open to all. As a collaborative final project, this event brings together concepts explored in the class, including survivance (survival + resistance – continuance), heteropatriarchy, heteronormativity, eroticism, love, healing, community, gender and sexuality. Students envision this event as a community dinner, an educational celebration and a gift to the community, while it is also an intervention that serves to unsettle racism, settler colonialism and heterosexism. Speakers include: Demian Diné Yahzhi’ (Diné), he/him/his, Candi Brings Plenty (Oglala Lakota), she/her/hers, and fabian romero (Purépecha), the/them/their.
