INTRODUCTION Background and Motivation Purpose of the Study Research Questions

Background and Motivation Aim: spirits of honesty, sincereness, respect, and patient learn the skills of talking with one another productively reaching collective long-term and short-term goals solve the class problems with democracy Function: announce the policies or regulations of school timely enhance the interaction between teachers and students Current situation: occupies students’ learning time

Purpose of the Study To exam the defects To clarify the rules Can be diversified and organized to make it more meaningful Attendance of class meeting will be raised up

Research Questions This research aims to explore the following research questions: 1. Do the class officers give service to classmates? 2. Does the homeroom teacher give students guidance in class meeting?

Research Questions 3. How to improve the attendance of class meeting? 4. How to diversify the class meeting and make it more meaningful? 5. Does each school make the effective implementation of class meeting?

METHODOOGY Research Design Research Participants Instruments Data Collection Procedures

Research Design To better understand the existing situations of class meetings at Ming Chuan University: to investigate the existing situations and problems participants’ perceptions needs for further improvement The questionnaires were completed by college students from 6 universities in northern Taiwan.

Research Participants 6 college schools including 300 college students (50 students from each school) were from northern part of Taiwan’s universities: Chinese Culture University Shih Hsin University Fu Jen Catholic University Taipei Medical University National Taipei University of Education Ming Chuan University Randomly chose from 6 different academic major division of the university.

Research Participants return rate :88 % possessed 264 valid questionnaires for data analysis

Instruments A questionnaire consists of four major types of items investigating: (1) the existing situations and problems they encountered in class meetings (2) participants’ perceptions of class meetings (3) their needs for further improvement in class meetings (4) open-ended question

Results and Discussion The results from the data collection and data analyses presented in this chapter indicates the following sections: (a) participants’ perceptions of class meetings; (b) the performances of class cadres’ responsibilities within class meetings; (c) the understandings of students’ counseling guided by teachers including daily life, career, and schoolwork; and (d) their suggestions and expectations for improvements in the future class meetings.

CONCLUSION 3. Students’ problems or difficulties: should tell home room teacher in advance inquire for home room teacher’s recommendation and help If home room teacher can not solve the problem or convey effective help, the teacher should deliver to department class leader

Recommendation Limited resources and time, Only 6 colleges in northern Taiwan can be selected randomly. Not enough to research the situation of class meetings. Hope the later researchers will try to expand the range of researchers in order to obtain more and better experiences from other schools for improvement, and thus, the regulations of class meetings will be more definite and clear.
