Chapter 1 Where to Look From

Its top view, front view, side view An object can look different from different views. Its top view, front view, side view and back view. KL 12D 5993 KL 12C 1217

Using dotted grids….. More patterns…

MIRROR HALVES Do you like to hear Amina’s story ?

Amina gave him a hundred-rupee note. Tit for Tat One day Amina met a painter. Can you make my picture? Yes, sure! I charge Rs 200 for it. After a while the painter showed her the picture. Amina! How do you like it? But this is only half ! Now can I have my money? The other half is exactly the same. So just put a mirror to get the complete picture. Amina gave him a hundred-rupee note. But this is only half the money ! The other half is exactly the same. So just put a mirror next to the note to get the full money! Ha, ha!

The painter had made many such pictures in which he drew only one half of the things. Draw the other half of these pictures and find out what these things are. Try doing it with a mirror. Can we repeat the painter's trick, while drawing pictures of the following? If you ask the painter to draw things which cannot be divided into two similar mirror halves, then he cannot play the trick. Draw three more such things which do not have similar mirror halves.

G Observe the pictures/figures. Does the dotted line divide each picture into two similar mirror halves ? ……..…………………… ……………………… …………… ……………………… …………..…………………… ……………….…………… ………………………

Can you guess these letters from their halves?

Guess the words by looking at their halves.

Tick the objects that can be divided in to equal halves using a dotted line. 2 ……………………. ……………… ……………………. ……………………. ………………..……………. ………………. …………………………………………. ………………..……….…. …………..……. ……………………. …………..……………. ……………………. …………….……………… ……………………. 8 ………….………………. …………………………… ………………..……. ……………………. ……………………. ………………………..….…….

Make different geometrical shape. FA ACTIVITIES Make different geometrical shape. Match objects available in the class / school / garden etc. Make charts of different views of objects. ( side, front, top views ) Quiz on identification of top, front and side views of objects. Completing the mirror half of given pictures. Create shapes using dots - A speed based puzzle. List alphabets which are symmetrical.

Underline the correct view to look at these things: WORK SHEET No 1 Competency: Understanding Basic Concepts . Underline the correct view to look at these things: TOP / SIDE / FRONT TOP / SIDE / FRONT 2. Observe the following figures and complete the other half. 3. Complete these figures to form the basic shapes.

A M U W E B C D WORK SHEET No 2 Competency: Problem Solving Ability. 1. Draw the side view of any two things in the space provided. 2. Draw the Line of Symmetry for the following: A M U W E B C D
