Fonts Look up font styles that you think would help communicate your idea. Use websites such as www.fontsquirrel.com to help you Look at books and posters and/or design your own

Experiment with fonts How about creating your own letters? Collect images of items which you associate with your theme. Can you use them to build your letter forms?

You can use the text to fill the shape of an image that represents your theme.

Experiment Use collage – cut the letters from magazine pages to get interesting images on your letter shapes. Use different papers to layer up your final poster. Use Perspective and/or make your letters 3D.

Colour Successful posters have a limited colour palette therefore you need to decide on a colour (or 2) which you think best communicates your message. Once you have decided on the colour, work exclusively with the tonal ranges of this colour and one or two (max) contrasting colours. Paint swatches are an excellent way of exploring colour tonal values.
