Future Recommendations: 3-Phase AC Motor Controller Senior Design Team P16261 Team Members: Adam Hirsch (EE), Derek Gutheil (CE), Joseph Kubeck (EE), Matthew Behlke (CE), Samuel Carlson (EE) Faculty Guide: George Slack Customer: Introduction: In recent years the commercial availability of new techniques to control motors has increased. One such method that is now widely available is field oriented control (FOC). FOC controls the stator currents of a brushless DC motor by representing it as a single vector. This single vector is the result of the Park Transform and Clarke Transform. One of the major goals of this project is to implement FOC in the new controller. Motivation: We wanted an economic but fully featured and fully configurable motor controller for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) control for use in electric vehicle applications, where high efficiency and high performance are require Win the Texas Instruments Design Competition Work with other students from varying engineering backgrounds to create the final product Problem Statement: Electric Vehicle Team requires a new, high resolution, low power motor controller that is capable of regenerative braking. This board should be able to interface with the team’s preexisting data collection system and should be scalable for the Rev1 racing motorcycle. System Overview F28069M Launchpad Interface Board Power Stage Final Product Software Overview Details: Controller F28069M Launchpad – Controls power stage and handles communication with the rest of the bike Power Stage DRV8301 Gate Driver – Controls the phase for each of the branches of the H-Bridge CSD19505 Power-Fets – Used for the half H-bridge circuitry Interface Board SN74LV1T34 Buffer and Line Driver – Scales the 5V digital signal to a 3.3V digital signal for the controller LM3940IS 5V-3.3V LDO – Scales the analog signal from 5V to 3.3V for the controller Future Recommendations: Combine the motor interface board and motor driver board into one board. Implement regenerative braking, the PCB is designed for it the software just needs to be written. Sponsors:
