Presentation transcript:

why does rangeland policy fail in traditional Southern African pastoral systems? 8th July 2009 Wednesday 5 pm NCBS Lecture Hall 1 Dr. Nicky Allsopp South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) and SANBI (South African National Biodiversity Institute) Dr. Nicky Allsopp’s background is in understanding soil patterns and processes and how these are affected by disturbance and vegetation change. Her research has mostly been undertaken in communally grazed areas of the Northern Cape, South Africa. This has resulted in a refocus on the interface between ecosystems and the people who use and manage them. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research GKVK, Bellary Road, Bangalore 560 065 www.ncbs.res.in
