Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012 Introduction Scheduled for launch Aug 12, 2013 Expected mission duration 175 days with 100 days dedicated to the nominal science phase Expected impact Jan 24, 2014 LLCD - a communications experiment will not be archived NMS - neutral mass spectrograph UVS – ultraviolet/visible spectrometer LDEX – lunar dust experiment Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012

Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012 Introduction Science Requirements Measure the relevant spatial and temporal variations of Ar, He, Na, and K. Detect or establish new limits for selected other species for which previous detections have been attempted. Perform a survey for the presence of other species or positive ambient ions and other atoms or compounds, within a mass range of 2-150 Da and a sensitivity of several particles/cc. Detect or set new limits for the spatial and size distribution of atmospheric dust over an altitude range from 3 km up to 50 km, with a height resolution of 3 km, at a minimum detectable density of 10-4 grains/cc, for grains from 100 nm to at least 1 micrometer in radius. Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012

Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012 SIS Development LDEX is nearly ready for peer review. Kudos to Carol Neese and to the LDEX team. UVS has a rather drafty draft but is moving along. NMS (and MAVEN NGIMS) team is having all of their time taken up by MSL SAM. Currently there is no one assigned to LADEE SIS development. The same is true for MAVEN. This is a real concern. Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012

Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012 Mission Development SPICE/navigation issues still a concern. Other mission activities seem to be in good shape. Management Council Meeting, UCLA 28-29 November 2012
