There are 2 kinds of articles The definite article indicates one particular person or thing. (the) The indefinite article indicates a single but not particular thing. (a/an) We use a when the noun starts with a consonant. We use an when the noun starts with a vowel.
exceptions When the ‘u’ sounds like ‘yu’ it takes ‘a’ e.g. uniform When an ‘h’ is silent it takes ‘an’ e.g. Honest or hour.
Rewrite the following sentences- inserting the appropriate article in the spaces. The best show I ever saw was about a guy who wanted to be an astronaut. He wanted to go to the moon so he needed a spaceship. In the show the guy was either a Kiwi or an Australian. I couldn’t tell. In the end he didn’t get there, but he met an alien on the planet Mars.
