Making Meaning Conference

Guiding Questions You can’t see electricity. How do you know when it is flowing in a bulb circuit? What about other things that use electrical energy? What evidence can we observe to show that electricity is flowing? How many wires connect to the battery, and where do they connect to make a complete circuit? How many wires connect to the bulb, and where do they connect to make a complete circuit? What did you notice on the ends of the batteries?

Vocabulary A circuit is a pathway for the flow of electricity. The filament of a bulb is the part that gets hot and produces light. D-cells, bulbs, and wires are circuit components. An electric current is a flow of electric charge. My Science Notebook 2012-2013 Name:____________________ Grade Level:_______________

Conclusion I learned that… Be sure to use the correct scientific vocabulary My Science Notebook 2012-2013 Name:____________________ Grade Level:_______________

Below the Line An electric current is a flow of electric charge. Electric current flows from the negative (-) end of the D-Cell (the flat end), through the circuit, and to the positive (+) end (the end with the bump). The electricity must travel in a complete path (circuit) from one end of the battery to the other. My Science Notebook 2012-2013 Name:____________________ Grade Level:_______________

Reflection I wonder… My Science Notebook 2012-2013 Name:____________________ Grade Level:_______________
