Snakes with venom size Vs Snakes without venom size By Carson Cozzens and Hailey Holbrook
Our Question: Are snakes typically smaller (length) if they have venom than snakes that don’t have venom?
Reason we chose this: We were curious if the size of snakes differs if it has venom or if it doesn’t have venom because if it did have venom it wouldn’t really need to be a giant size to intimidate a predator.
Types of Snakes we are focusing on, and there size. Poisonous: Black mamba Belcher's sea snake Coastal Taipan Fierce Snake Black Tiger snake Beaked sea snake Yellow bellied sea snake Western Australian Tiger snake Peron's sea snake Many Banded Krait Snake Non-Poisonous Northern Water snake Four-lined Snake Eastern Gardener Snake Emerald Tree Boa Snake Rough Green Snake Bull Snake Black Rat Snake Milk Snake Python Anaconda
Data Where we got the info (Wikipedia)
Graph Blue= Venomous Red= Non-Venomous Venomous Average: 1 Graph Blue= Venomous Red= Non-Venomous Venomous Average: 1.735 Non-venomous Average: 3.1864
Conclusion: We can conclude that non-venomous snakes on average, have more length than venomous snakes, showing that they have no need for a bigger body.
