Secondary/ Special Education Teacher

Nature of Work Compiling structured and organized lesson plans The ability to get along and interact with fellow teachers, and interschool colleagues, parents, and administration. Presenting a confident tone while discussing topics in class. Constantly adapting to the ever-changing progress of technology and its practices. Being approachable and helpful for students and their needs. The ability to control a classroom despite everyday emotional disruptions

Education and Training Needed A bachelors degree ( Some states require a Master’s degree) in Education Along with your general degree, a duel degree or a minor in Special Education State issued certification or license to teach Complete a student teacher internship in a special education program

Other Qualifications Having patience and understanding with dealing with various disabilities Having creativity and many different ideas for classroom activities Having the correct amount of balance between structure and compassion while combating issues Build productive and trusting relationships with each individual student Always being prepared and focused on the countless standards that need to be addressed
