BDC Good day everyone, My name is Mark Tanner and I am an Account Manager at the Business Development Bank of Canada, known as BDC. I am delighted to give you a brief overview of BDC. Hopefully, after I’m finished, you will have an even better understanding of BDC’s services and offering.

In fact, BDC is the only Canadian bank devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs. We promote Canadian entrepreneurship with a focus on small and medium-sized businesses.

BDC offers to entrepreneurs Capital Advisory services Financing Here you have an overview of how our business is structured In a nutshell, BDC offers Canadian entrepreneurs: Financing Capital And advisory services BDC offers term loans, which represents over 90% of our portfolio. BDC also supports another 7,000 entrepreneurs through indirect financing – a specialized form of financing for finance and leasing companies. Through our investments arm—BDC Capital, we also offer a full spectrum of specialized risk capital, including venture capital, as well as growth and business transition capital. We also offer a full range of non-financial services to entrepreneurs. All these are regrouped under our BDC Advisory Services business unit.

As you can see, we don’t provide term deposits, grants, interest-free loans, bank accounts, non-commercial loans or residential loans. Every dollar in our portfolio is used to support Canadian entrepreneurs.

Capital Specialized financing and investment solutions. As mentioned earlier, BDC Capital—a subsidiary of BDC—offers a full spectrum of specialized financing, including venture capital, and growth and business transition capital.

These solutions allow businesses to raise capital when they have insufficient tangible assets to pledge for security and don’t want to dilute ownership.
