2014 BEST Game “Blade Runner”

Game Overview Blade Runner is based on the challenges and opportunities surrounding the transportation of wind turbine components on US infrastructure size, weight, hazards, etc. public/private roads, bridges, etc. the on-site assembly of the complex structures.

Game Premise Transport turbine components from your stockpile area to the assembly area Turbine components are large and heavy and may damage roads Your team must receive approval to transport across roads and bridges (through an oversize/overweight permit) Two transportation paths exist of varying difficulty

Game Premise Your team must beware of environmental concerns and animal habitats (Prairie Chicken) Leave prairie chicken habitats undisturbed, or Move them to a safe area

Game Premise At construction site, robots will assemble a kilowatt wind turbine (small) a megawatt wind turbine (large) At construction site, a human crane operator will aid the robot in Assembly and uprighting of the tower Expansion of turbine blades Adjacent teams may choose to cooperate in the robotic construction of a turbine and may even share components for increased cost efficiency
