Presentation transcript:

Getting Started… Brainstorm In Sketchbooks or on ‘rough work’ paper: Make a list or ‘doodles’ of things you like! Think about how you could visually depict your ‘likes’ by simply using lines and shapes. Favourites… hobbies, interests, sports, foods, animals, places, things to do…

“ISH” and “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds are available on TUMBLEBOOKS Lesson Idea retrieved Sept. 2011 from “Teach Kids Art” at http://teachkidsart.blogspot.com/search/label/portfolios

Art Portfolios

Art Portfolios Supplies to Get Started… -Large sheet of Bristol board -Pencil with pink eraser attached -Sharpie marker Print your name in the top right corner: Stoddart, Colby

Planning my Art Portfolio… I can ‘draw’ a guideline with a pink eraser. (to divide the page in half, horizontally) I can estimate and use the space well: 4 large rectangles in the top half, 4 large rectangles in the bottom half; Space below each for “-ish” labels. I can draw rectangular shapes freehand, without a ruler.

Drawings that Tell About You… Pick some of your favourite ideas, and make an "ish" drawing with lines and shapes in each of the rectangles using a Sharpie. Label your drawings.

Watercolour Supplies… -Watercolour set -Watercolour paintbrush -Water container

Using Watercolour I can gather supplies and set up my work space. I can add water to create a ‘watery’ paint medium. I can control where the paint goes. I can decide on a light source and add shadows using watery grey.

Clean-Up Done Early? Step 1: BRUSH in water TIP water into sink or bucket STACK water containers Step 2: Return watercolour set to bin Step 3: Art to Drying Place Wash hands Done Early? Free Drawing Time!
