Welcome to my Domain Extension’s Presentation. enjoy!!!

Domain Extensions Does a Domain Extension Really Matter? Many of us don’t put much thought into the second half of the company website until it comes time to create a website. The second half of a website name is called the “domain extension,” and believe it or not, this does make a difference On a surface level, domain extensions do matter. When someone types a search query into Google, .com sites are usually the overwhelming majority of results. Anything in underlined should be written down! As always, if your feeling studious, feel free to write more.

Domain Extensions gTLD’s (generic top-level domains) three (3) letter extensions at the end of a Web Address there were seven (7) original more have been added since the 1980’s found at the end of every Web Address each indicates the nature of the website

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. The seven (7) original generic top-level domains along with three additional are: .com .org .net .edu .mil .int .gov .Biz .DE .UK

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. .com (commercial) introduced in 1985 business or commercial nature companies or for profit organizations most common extension for domain names Generally for personal use

DOMAINS Extensions Cont. .org (organization) non-profit organizations, charities or groups the following organizations typically use this Domain Extension: sports teams, schools, clubs, social organizations, legal services, and community volunteer groups.

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. .net (network) internet Service Providers. derived from "network" due to its use for organizations involved in networking technologies used as an alternative if domains are taken under the .com or .org domain

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. .mil (military) used only by United States of America military agencies like: Navy army Air Force Marines Coast Guard military departments are not prohibited from using other domains For example, the U.S. Navy can use the .com extension for some websites in addition to their .mil address to interface with regular citizens, such as gonavy.com for Navy Recruitment.

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. .int (intergovernmental) composed primarily of sovereign states, or of other intergovernmental organizations established by treaty (an agreement between countries) or other agreement that acts as a charter creating the group

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. .gov (government) exclusively for United States governmental existence most strongly regulated all .gov registrations must go through http://dotgov.gov. Note: Some governmental organizations use .fed.us instead of .gov, while others, such as the United States Postal service use .gov in addition to .com due to its business components.

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. .Biz (Business) business website designed for general business use the name is a phonetic (sound of speech) spelling of the first syllable of "business." created to relieve some of the demand for the finite domain names available in the .com top- level domain, provides an alternative to businesses whose preferred .com domain name has already been registered by another party

DOMAIN Extensions Cont. .de (Germany) 'de' is the abbreviatian for DEUTSCHLAND , which means Germany in German language.
