What is E. Coli? E. Coli is a common type of bacteria that can get into food, like beef and vegetables. E. Coli is short for Escherichia Coli.

At the Barrow County Fair and all over Jamestown, sickness was spreading. Parents were calling the school reporting that their children were ill.

Attended the fair Bruce Dolnaldson-ill Jennifer Hallon-ill Mr. Black-ill Donald Black-ill David Jones-ill Allen Johnson-not ill LuAnne Brown-ill Jonathan Miller-ill Mary Smith-ill Anthony Green-ill Mrs. McCoy- not ill Darryl Harper-ill Jennifer Hallon-ill Eileen Bradley-ill

Did not attend the fair Susie Thompson-ill Charlie Thompson-ill Donna Jones-ill Mr. McCoy-ill

Why they are ill Charlie Thompson- Charlie couldn’t attend fair because he was grounded. He fell in the pond near the cow pasture. Then when his sister, Susie came home he hugged her. Susie Thompson-went to church camp instead of attending the fair. We think she got sick because her brother hugged her while he was wet with contaminated water. Anthony Green- Anthony attened the fair. Started getting sick shortly after attending the fair. Darryl Harper- Darryl attended the fair. He had a rash and hives.

How to get E. Coli? You can get E. Coli by touching anything animal related or being around animals then eat something before washing your hands.

How to treat it You should drink sips of water to flush out your digestive system.

How to prevent E.Coli You need to wash your hands often. Cook meat over 160 degrees Fahrenheit Drink only pasteurized milk
