Ethnic groups Tajikistan’s main ethnic group are the Tajiks. The ethnic groups were either nomadic or sedentary. Historically , Tajikistan was home to the Bukharian Jews.

Education The education system is national. In the core years of school children must go through four years of primary school and two years of secondary school. The official literacy rate is 98 percent.

Language The language of Tajikistan is Tajik. The language has diverged from Persians that have spoken in Afghanistan and Iran. Tajik also retains numerous archaic elements in its vocabulary,

History Tajikistan was made up from the Samanid Empire. Tajikistan came into Russian rule in the 1860’s. Tajikistan gained independence in 1991 and had experienced three changes in government and a civil war.
