MOVE IT The Game Starts HERE!!!!!!

Introduction James and Alyssa (PE and Health) Our Move It Intensive will allow you to explore deep into a chosen lifetime sport or activity. Question: What is lifetime fitness? We will be looking into the history of the sport and equipment while exploring the latest technology to enhance sports performance. We will be using the use of technology (my plate calorie counter tracker) to track our nutrition and to learn how to make healthy choices especially in the area of improving sports performance through proper nutrition. We will also be using our latest fit bit to have an intensive challenge and track the intensity of each activity we are participating in. Go over the overview!

Our Expectations What do we expect? This intensive is high activity… meaning there is no room for laziness!!!!! We expect FULL participation in each activity we do at a facility. YMCA will be a trip we take multiple times to work out in the gym and to participate in some group classes. These classes are a privilege, if we fail to participate fully, it is disrespectful to the instructor and a distraction to the class. FULL participation in any classes we have on campus. We have some experts coming to conduct a class or workshop and you need to give each activity a chance. **** Permission slips! Go through them together****

Our Final Product In groups of 5, students will choose a lifetime sport or activity. You will research: The history of the sport. Rules and Regulations throughout history. How has the sport changed by technology? Sports Nutrition ( How to stay healthy and maintain good nutrition to maximize performance) Creating a video of our intensive participating in that sport or activity. Write about how your sport or activity can be a lifetime sport (Give teams or facilities to go to etc). Lastly, create a flyer to be handed out on expo day, giving information how to set them up with the lifetime fitness activity chosen.

What is my Plate calorie counter tracker? We will be using an online tracker to record the foods and beverages we are consuming throughout the day. We would like everyone to experience what it means to maintain nutritional health. In our research of sports nutrition, we challenge you to track your own nutrition and to improve it throughout our intensive. We will set up our accounts now… Take 30 minutes to set up and explore the app! You will enter your first meal right now (breakfast)!!!! This is a free app…type in myplate calorie counter tracker. Sign in as a new member. We will check in daily with you to make sure you are completing this daily food and exercise log. This will be a piece of evidence!

Additional projects The Deli has asked us to again create one of our masterful food creations. We will all be learning about basic nutrition and ways to create this healthy food option at the Deli. In addition to Expo Day… we will also be organizing a family fitness night. This night will be a good mix of all of our chosen activities that we ourselves have participated in.
