Social Network Website for USEP https://usepnet.org

Login Page Navigate to https://usepnet.org on your web browser. Use the credentials provided to you from the system-generated email or that your received from staff at the USEP Office

Home Page Upon logging in, you will be directed to your home page. It will have a sidebar with upcoming events and notices on the left. On the right, you will see a log of the members who have most recently visited the site.

Home Page – User Menu You will also see a series of menus – one at the top center, one at the top right, one on the left sidebar and one toward the center of the screen. The top right menu allowed you to navigate to the interactive features: composing and reading messages, viewing notifications, using the forum, viewing friends, uploading and managing media, etc.

Home Page – Top Menu At the top center of the screen, you will see another menu. This menu contains links where you can see all site members, Groups, Events, or Contact the USEP Office.

Home Page – Left Sidebar Menu The menu on the left sidebar allows users to navigate to pages that contain resources and areas where you can post questions that staff and other users can answer.

Password Reset If you wish to change your password, there are two ways you can get to the page to perform a password reset. You can use the user menu to navigate to your General Settings page. Alternatively, you can use the top menu (hover, or click on mobile devices) to reach your General Settings page.

Password Reset, cont. Once you reach your General Settings page, simply type your new password on the line for ‘New Password’, then repeat it on the line below ‘Repeat New Password’ and click ‘Save Changes’. Keep in mind that passwords are case-sensitive.

Sending and Receiving Private Messages One of the most important features of USEPNet is the ability to send and receive private messages. This feature is similar to email, but it does not require you to keep a list of email addresses and, unlike District email, it is private.

Sending a Message In order to send a message, you need to click the link labelled ‘Compose’ (refer to the graphic on the previous slide). In the ‘Send To’ field, begin typing the person’s name and it should appear in a pop-up box. Click on the name to add it. If you want to send to more than one person, simply repeat the previous step to add another name. After you’ve finished composing your message, click ‘Send Message’.

Receiving a Message If you receive a notification that someone sent you a message (usually via an email notification) click on the ‘Inbox’ link (see slide before last), then click on the Message Subject to view the message. Alternatively, if you see a number in a pink bubble at the top right of the envelope near the top right of the page, you can hover to see unread messages. Simply click on the message you want to read to be directed to it.

Messaging, cont. Alternatively, if you click on a member and view their profile, you will notice a link towards the top where you can send them a Private Message or a Public Message. A Public Message is different from a Private Message in that it can be viewed by anyone on the site and works a little like Twitter when you use the ‘@twitterhandle’ feature.

Groups Groups provide a way to organize communication and collaboration so that members see information relevant to them and are not overwhelmed by information that may not even apply to them. They also allow private communications between members of a group. In order to see the current list of groups, use the top menu to navigate to the Groups page. There, you will see all of the groups, have the chance to request membership to Private Groups or leave a group.

Group Page On a Group Page, you will see a feed displaying the most recent changes and updates. Above the feed, you will see a menu containing links to the various features: Group Forum, Files (PDFs, etc.) Docs (collaborative documents), Events, Group Member List, etc.

Adding Friends The Friends feature works with other features on USEPNet. If you are a Group Administrator, you can invite friends to join the group. When adding a file, you can specify whether you want to restrict it to Friends, a Group, or is completely Private. Also, your Friends’ updates will appear on the Activity Feed on your home page, making it easier to stay up-to-date.

Site-wide Chat The site-wide chat is accessed clicking the ‘+’ symbol in the bottom right corner. This will bring up a window where you can chat with whoever is on the site at that moment. During regular business hours, you will generally find someone from the USEP Office present if you have any questions or need to contact a Business Rep.

Chat Features Like most chat systems, you will be chatting in real time. You have the ability to use emojis and upload images into the chat. One feature that may not be common is that whatever you type in the chat will remain even after you leave the site. Anyone who views the chat will be able to see what you’ve typed. For this reason, please do not discuss private or confidential topics in public chats.

Chat Rooms There are currently three chat rooms active on USEPNet – one for the Executive Board, one for Building Reps, and one for USEP Office. The chat rooms for E-Board and Building Reps are private – meaning you need to enter a password to access them. For both, the chat room passwords are on the forum for the respective Group. The chat room for USEP Office is public, meaning anyone who is logged into the site can access it. On most days during regular business hours, there will be someone from the Office present to respond to any questions you may have.

Building Rep Resources Building Rep Resources, accessed via a link on the sidebar menu, is where important documents, forms and flyers can be located – e.g. Instructional and SRP Contracts, USEP Constitution and Bylaws, Leadership Incentive Program checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions Currently a work in progress, this section will act as a quick reference tool for many of the questions asked by members.

Questions? If you are unable to log in: Call the Office at 813-996-2119 Or email usep@useponline.org If you can log in but have difficulty navigating the site: Refer to this PowerPoint Contact USEP Office via the chat room at this link: https://usepnet.org/usep-office/ Use the Contact form: https://usepnet.org/contact/ If you have a question about a specific feature or would like to see a feature added: Post your question in the USEPNet Features forum: https://usepnet.org/forums/forum/usepnet-features/
