Solar Eclipse August 21st, 2017 Our objective today is to share the excitement about the solar eclipse and how to enjoy it safely. Daniel check your wording!  Create a good introductory slide. Thanks mrs. Pack :)

WHERE? Daniel

WHEN? The first visible signs of the eclipse will begin around 11:58 am. The totality will begin around 1:28 and will last less than 2 minutes. The last signs of the eclipse will be around 2:55.  (Times are approximate because it depends on exactly where you are)

Safety First Always https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAuF6gGcirM

A solar eclipse happens at New Moon (Not at every New Moon).  Nashville is the  city with the best  view where the eclipse lasts about 2 min.  During a total solar eclipse, the disk of the sun is completely covered by the disk of the moon.  A solar eclipse happens at New Moon (Not at every New Moon).   If any planets are in the sky at the time of a total solar eclipse, they can be seen as points of light.  Parts of 14 American States Will Go Dark.  You Will Need Eye Protection 👓  Miranda

Diamond effect: Safety: How it happens: It is very important you protect your eyes. If you look at the eclipses with your bare eyes it can cause permanent damage. A diamond ring effect is where it looks like you see a diamond ring because of the light from the sun piercing the edges of the moon. Alyssa How it happens: The sun, moon, and earth line up with the moon in the middle causing the moon to block out the sun for a short period of time.

R Ross This picture shows us the path of the total solar eclipse and what time it hits different parts of the country.  It will take 90 minutes to go all the way across United States.

R  This picture tells us the phases the moon and sun go through and what it looks like. And how the moon and sun will be positioned. Picture From Google Ross

Facts On The Solar Eclipse - any breeze will dissipate and birds will stop chirping, it is quite, and feel a 10˚ -15 ˚ F drop in temperature is NOT unusual.  - the longest a total solar eclipse can last is 7.5 minutes. there are usually between 2 and 5 eclipse in any given year. 20 Things You Need to Know

The upcoming August 21, 2017, total solar eclipse will be the first one in 99 years to stretch from one U.S. coast to the other. It has been over 500 years and will be 500 more years before it will in our location. We know that the moon's shadow completely blocks the sun during a total solar eclipse. However, the sun's outer atmosphere known as the corona, can still be seen. This looks like a faint light around the shadow of the moon. Taniya

A solar eclipse is a type of eclipse that occurs when the moon passes between the sun and earth, and when the moon fully or partially blocks the sun. Athena

A total eclipse occurs about every 18 months. The locations vary. A solar eclipse is a natural event that takes place on Earth when the Moon moves in its orbit between Earth and the Sun.  It happens at New Moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction with each other. A total eclipse  occurs about every 18 months.  The locations vary.   Taniya

During a total solar eclipse, conditions in the path of totality can change quickly. Air temperatures drop and the immediate area becomes dark. If any planets are in the sky at the time of a total solar eclipse, they can be seen as points of light. Jorge

Alyssa

How Will Animals React To The Solar Eclipse The reaction of the animals will be something to observe, as the sun disappears and the sky turns dark , animals and birds will be surprised.  cris
