Cleaning Supplies Cleaning supplies should be stored away from foods Keep cleaning supplies in original containers Mixing chlorine with any product containing ammonia will create deadly fumes

Grease fires

Good Cover with a lid Baking Soda Salt Fire Extinguisher Grease Fires Good Cover with a lid Baking Soda Salt Fire Extinguisher Bad Water Flour

Cooking surfaces Keep clothing away from direct heat Turn handles away from the front of the range

Cooking Surfaces Avoid plastic on or near the range Lift the lid on hot foods away from you

Oven Stand to the side of the oven when opening it Use hot pads or oven mitts for handling hot pans

Knives Dull knives are more dangerous and less efficient than sharp knives

To prevent falls Clean up all spills immediately. Use a step stool for reaching high objects. Store heavy items on lower shelves.

First aid Burns: Place burned area under cold running water Cut: Apply pressure over wound

Electrical Appliances To avoid electric shock Use with dry hands Stand on dry floor and keep away from water Disconnect the main power source before cleaning

Electrical In case of electrical shock disconnect main power source before approaching injured person

Keep electrical cords away from water and hot objects. DO NOT plug several cords into an electrical outlet at one time. Unplug portable appliances after you have used them. Disconnect appliances before cleaning them.

To prevent electric shock Do not plug several cords into an electrical outlet at one time. Do not put them in water unless the appliance is labeled “immersible.” Unplug appliances before bringing metal objects in contact with any working parts.
