the journey of faith

the journey of faith Ha-bakkuk … embrace … clings

13 Your eyes are too pure to look on evil;     you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous?     Why are you silent while the wicked     swallow up those more righteous than themselves? 14 You have made people like the fish in the sea,     like the sea creatures that have no ruler. 15 The wicked foe pulls all of them up with hooks,     he catches them in his net, he gathers them up in his dragnet;     and so he rejoices and is glad.

16 Therefore he sacrifices to his net     and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury     and enjoys the choicest food. 17 Is he to keep on emptying his net,     destroying nations without mercy?

… find a solid place

LORD, are you not from everlasting LORD, are you not from everlasting?     My God, my Holy One, you will never die. You, LORD, have appointed them to execute judgment;     you, my Rock, have ordained them to punish.

God is … … a solid place self-existent eternal holy faithful sovereign almighty … a solid place

I will stand at my watch     and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me,     and what answer I am to give to this complaint.

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” These things I remember as I pour out my soul …

Why, my soul, are you downcast. Why so disturbed within me Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you …

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble God is our refuge and strength,     an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way     and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,  though its waters roar and foam     and the mountains quake with their surging ...

Come and see what the LORD has done … He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God …
