IT.CAS.Web2.0 Kyle Erickson Good evening, my name is Kyle Erickson and tonight I will be discussing version two of our IT web site, IT.CAS.Web2.0

Overview Description and Intended Use Deliverables Demonstration Conclusion A little overview of the things I will be covering tonight, we will start off a discussion on the Description and intended use as well as the user profiles I will then touch on the design plan as well as the deliverables I will give you a short demonstration of my application Finally, I will wrap things up the conclusion and ask about some questions

Description and Intended Use IT.CAS.Web2.0 Online Content Management System (CMS) Administrators have the ability to manage Web sites without knowing Web technologies The IT.CAS.Web2.0 application will be a highly reliable, Content Management System (CMS) for the College of Applied Science’s (CAS) Department of Information Technology (DIT) Web site. It will be flexible and modular enough to support quick page edits, addition and deletion of pages, all without the need to know specific Web technologies or programming languages. The IT.CAS.Web2.0 on-line application will act as a content management system for the IT Web site. The functionality will allow users of the content management system to manage the content in all areas of the IT Web site seamlessly. Faculty and Administrators will have the ability to update text, images, links, headings, font properties, and style sheets as well as have the ability to create and delete pages without ever needing to see the project code, open the database, or even log on to the IT Web server.

Deliverables Web based content management system Senior design student projects application Report viewer application Page viewer application Image and document viewer Extensive documentation

Let’s have a look…

Conclusion IT.CAS.Web2.0 makes page administration simple Site administration simple Customizable without technology background Usage and maintainability Web 2.0 has many definitions. The most common aspect with the many definitions deals with interaction, communication and collaboration. For this project to be truly successful administrators must not be afraid of the new face of the DIT Web site. Furthermore, for the site to be a success, administrators must use the site and update it on a consistent basis. This application fixed and addressed the problems that plagued the old version of the DIT Web site. However, if IT.CAS.Web2.0 continues to not be maintained and used in the same fashion the old Web site was used, another re-write and a new project should be expected.
