miniDOM report Vlad Popa KM3NeT General Meeting, Marseille 28-31 January 2012

The miniDOM story started with a proposal…

… and many people from various labs contributed: Michel Ageron Marco Circella Antoine Couchner Paschal Coyle Maarten de Jong Eric Heine Sylvain Henry Aauke Korporaal Patrick Lamare Ovidiu Maris George Mogildea Marian Mogildea Vlad Popa Bertran Vallage … and many others in different moments.

The prototyping started in 2011 in ISS for the electronics…

… and at NIKHEF, for all the rest.

In 2012 the job moved to CPPM,

… while pressure tests were completed in Catania.

Various problems were identified and solved: High currents at power on Noisy output Low signal amplitude (electronics sent back to ISS and fine tuned in summer 2012) … And other details, “not to be mentioned”

Today status: Tests and calibrations in the dark room, using the “flower pots” OK!

Today status: The miniDOM integration completed (the mechanics design changed in order to ease the connections)

Today status: The miniDOM (as the DOM) integrated on IL12F1, minimizing the LCM shadow.

Next steps: IL12 deployment and connection (starting February?) miniDM software installed at IMP Definition of the procedures (to be included in the ANTARES shfter’s manual) Decision on the miniDOM use: find a PhD student or a postdoc? Voluntaries from us? Any other suggestions? Thank you!
