Class Considered both a stimulant and a hallucinogen Stimulant: a drug that increases alertness, respiration, blood pressure, and other body functions to create a feeling of high energy in the body Hallucinogen: a drug that alters perception, thoughts, or feelings Alters neurotransmitters that release serotonin and norepinephrine, causing a feeling of increased arousal

Pacifiers are used to prevent teeth grinding while on ecstasy. Paraphernalia Pacifiers are used to prevent teeth grinding while on ecstasy. Glow sticks are used to enhance the visual hallucinations associated with ecstasy. (raves) VapoRub is spread on the inside of masks to enhance smells and hallucinations.

How to Identify MDMA Presumptive testing: Confirmatory testing: Pure MDMA can be identified in powder form because it glimmers when hit with light in a manner similar to sand Colorimetric tests use a kit that will cause the drug to change color if present Confirmatory testing: Can be analyzed by using a mass spectrometer to determine chemical composition Near-infrared spectroscopy is used to find MDMA combined in other substances without destruction of evidence
