What do the red, blue and green lines represent? What is happening to the red line as time goes by? Why is this happening? Cite evidence that we have discussed previously in class. What is happening to the blue and green lines as the red line increases? What is the relationship between the blue line and the red line? What is the relationship between the blue line and the green line? What does this graph imply is happening to our oceans? Cite specific evidence to support your answer.

Follow the red arrows; what happens to atmospheric CO2 Follow the red arrows; what happens to atmospheric CO2? Describe the entire process from the left to right side of the graphic. What does the various colors of blue in the water and in the boxes represent? As the oceans gather more and more hydrogen ions, what happens to the pH of the oceans? Look at the drawings of the shells. What happens as you move to the right side of the graphic? Why? Predict: what will happen to food chains when oceans become more acidic? Why?

What is the main cause of CO2 going into the water? Why is ocean acidification called a “hidden” impact of climate change? How does ocean acidification impact ocean food webs? How can ocean acidification impact human populations? What can human populations do to prevent ocean acidification?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo-bHt1bOsw At the link above, watch the video that depicts climate change and answer the questions below. How have the oceans helped combat climate change? How does a warming ocean impact CO2 levels in the atmosphere? 1 in 7 people get most of their protein from sea food. If there are 7 billion people on the planet, how many people will be impacted by ocean acidification? How are food chains impacted by ocean acidification? Why are ocean food chains unable to adapt to this change?

https://vimeo.com/43828686 At the link above, watch the video that depicts climate change and answer the questions below. What types of jobs are available in the community of Willapa Bay? What happened in 2008 that lead to the Nisbet family to make a change to their business? What happens to juvenile oysters in acidic waters? What will this do to the oyster population? What will this do to the community of Willapa Bay? Why are the Nisbet’s different from the rest of society in regards to ocean acidification?
