Choosing a path With rare exception, all will need some sort of post-secondary education (training) after high school graduation to meet their career or life goals. Should one know these goals by next year? Be prepared to change your mind many times. Ask older people about their career path, regrets, philosophy toward work.

Career Considerations Values Money, Time, Responsibility, Travel, Ethics, etc Interests 35% of your waking hours will be spent working. It would be good to be interested in what you are doing. Personality The sensitive idealist might make a good Therapist but not a good Data Analyst. Abilities Would you really want to attempt a career in something in which you have little acumen? Naviance surveys a good starting point for a conversation with your counselor or your parents.

Private college? Cost, size,majors,location, selectivity, public/private “Americans love lists” -- # of applications, # of rejections brings status (do they crow about it)
