Presentation transcript:

Tuppers Field petition Thank you to about 50 of who supported us at the recent committee meeting where our petition was debated. Arun District Councillors had, unlike some previous meetings we’ve attended, read everything thoroughly and asked many good questions of the officers. Our councillor, Norman Dingemans tabled 2 proposals to be voted on. ADC to accept the principles of the recommendation of the Independent Inspector Mr Edward Cousins to designate Tuppers Field, Walberton as a Local Green Space. Recommend that Tuppers Field, Walberton no longer be considered suitable tor development and to be considered for potential as a Local Green Space when Walberton's Neighbourhood Plan is reviewed. There were 12 councillors present with 10 voting in favour and 2 abstentions. Needless to say we were delighted! These will now go to an Arun Full Council meeting, we understand, on Wednesday 12th July at 6 pm. Following discussions with Norman we intend applying for just 2 public speaking slots for the Chairman of the Parish Council and an Avisford Park Road resident. We don’t want to bore the councillors with unnecessary information or repetition so will keep it to these two and short and simple. Please put the date in your dairies and come along to support us. Open Gardens - Sunday 18th June - 12 to 5 pm Over 25 gardens large and small will be open in Walberton and Binsted. Pay on the day £5, children free. Free parking at the Recreation Ground and a shuttle bus to get you to the more distant gardens in West Walberton Lane and Binsted Delicious cream teas will be available at the Village Hall from 2 – 5 pm. Plant Sales, Classic Cars, an Art Exhibition by the Downland Society and Live Music. St Mary’s Church is sponsoring the event for the benefit and enjoyment of the whole community, and proceeds will go to support local charity Just Different and picnic table for the playing field. For further information contact Peter Brown 551829 or Laurie King 551938 Cycle path Approval was given several years ago for the cycle path from Barnham to Walberton and for an additional section along Arundel Road, Fontwell. Unfortunately, the Fontwell section wasn’t completed, but funding is now in place and work will start next month. Having seen how much the first section has been used we’re sure that this new section will be welcome. As always, we thank you for your continuing support – much more will be needed soon to challenge the numerous planning applications which go against our Neighbourhood Plan. Stay with us!
