Traditions There are many traditions that each family have for every holiday celebrated in Latvia The most popular ones are: the Midsummer festival, Latvian song and dance festival, November 18th, May 4th.

Midsummer festival Jāņi is an annual Latvian festival celebrating the summer solstice. The holidays—Līgo Day and Jāņi Day—are on 23 and 24 June. The day before Jāņi is known as Līgo Day On Jāņi Eve people travel from the city into the countryside to gather and eat, dance, drink, sing and celebrate the solstice by observing the ancient folk traditions relating to renewal and fertility. People stay up all night celebrating

Songand dance festival The Latvian Song and Dance Festival is one of the largest choral events in the world and an important event in Latvian culture and social life Approximately 30,000 performers altogether participate in the event .The first festival was during the song days in Dikļi in 1864 The first Song Festival in Riga was on the summer of 1873. 1003 singers and 30 orchestra players participated in the first festival.
