Year ( 9 ) Subject Selection – (Geographies of Interconnections)
Course Description This unit examines the interconnections between people and places through the products people buy and the effects of their production on the places that make them. Students examine the ways that transport and information and communication technologies have made it possible for an increasing range of services to be provided internationally. The course involves a specific study of global tourism and its positive and negative impacts. The course also investigates trade as a driving force that interconnects people and places all over the world. Students consider the question of how to organise trade so that it is fair and sustainable. Another focus of the course is the development of technology and communication around the world and students are asked to consider the negative and positive effects of this development.
