Infrastructure and utilities New infrastructure projects in the emirate of Abu Dhabi On October 16, 2016, the Abu Dhabi Executive Council approved nearly Dh6 billion worth of development projects in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. These include: a Dh1bn construction package for a business district project in Madinat Zayed a Dh687 million residential project in Al Hayer, near Al Ain new roads new electricity substations The Madinat Zayed project, originally known as Abu Dhabi’s Capital District, will include: The Al Zahiyah infrastructure project that includes redesigning Al Firdous and 10th streets Housing loans for Emiratis Residential and business district development, new schools, extensive improvements to roads and other infrastructure Stalled infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi 131-kilometre Abu Dhabi metro light rail system Positive effect of infrastructure spending infrastructure: roads, facilities networks and power supply to 704 commercial lots "multi-modal" public transport system Madinat Zayed will house 300,000 people and 325,000 workers.
