Developing networked scholarship with part-time doctoral students Dr Katy Vigurs Associate Professor of Higher & Professional Education @drkatyvigurs

What is my role at the University? Lead the Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD). Supervise PhD and EdD students who are studying part-time. Researcher Education & Researcher Development = core part of my role. Doctoral education is also one of my research interests.

Participation in social practices is a necessary condition for learning. (Lave & Wenger, 1991) Part-time PGR students at risk of remaining on periphery of research communities.

“I lack the confidence to write my own tweets.” “I’m concerned how others might respond.” “I don’t want to appear foolish or stupid. What if I’m ridiculed?”
