Module 1: Career Coach & Education Planning Initiative Emsi: Good morning everyone and welcome. My name is RP and I work for Economic Modeling Specialists Intl, Emsi. I also have Angela Baucom product Manager for the California CC Technology Center. We are privileged to talk with you about the EPI and specifically the career exploration component of the SSP. Before we do that let me get some house cleaning out of the way. We have everyone muted for this presentation, But as any question arise please use the question box and type in your question. We will address those question at the end of the presentation. Angela will begin giving us an overview of the EPI and I’ll talk about the Career Coach which is the career exploration component within the SSP.

EPI Program Outcomes Help students make informed choices Assist in clarifying goals for students Support the requirement that students have a stated goal by 15 units Promote and support coordination between CCC/UC/CSU Reduce the time it takes students to complete their goal (degree, certificate, or transfer)

Who is Emsi? Partnerships & experience working with colleges in US, Canada & UK Decision-makers in higher education use & trust Emsi data 9/10 2015 Aspen Prize finalists 3/4 Aspen Prize winners integrated Career Coach effectively 1.2 million students used Career Coach last year Allow me to give you some idea of who we are and what we have to bring to the table. Many of you are familiar with Emsi and use our tools and services regularly. We work directly with most of the CC’s in California. We have partnerships with colleges throughout the US, Canada and UK Some of you might be familiar with the Aspen Award. The Aspen award is an award given out every 2 years that recognizes excellence in community colleges.

Career Coach Usage in California These are some of the colleges in Cali that have adopted Career Coach as a solution into their colleges

How can we help? Identify student interests Guide career exploration Connect students to colleges offering programs of interest Student Success!!! Essentially Career Coach was designed Identify student interests Connect their interest to potential careers And most importantly connect students to the programs your college’s (click) to drive student success.

How do we help with student success? The main goal of Career Coach is to provide students to a vision so they can become successful. How does Career Coach do that?

Students have questions… Who would I work for? What should I study? Am I prepared for that much schooling? How much can I make? What jobs can I get? Will I like those jobs?

Paths to Student Success ? Need work Students are seeking answers to help them find fulfilling and rewarding careers. How are they going to get the answers? There’s the human element. The human element. The data element . How much will they make what are projections for growth Together with Career Coach [click] you are now more equipped to help the students receive the best guidance to get them on the path for success!!

Self-Assessment & Career Exploration In the Student Service Portal we are the Career Exploration The function of the self-assessment is to help students discover more about themselves as a person and provide recommendations of career clusters. The recommended career clusters from the self-assessment provide a way for students to start exploring careers and shows them occupational data.

By providing self-assessment, career exploration and information to answer their questions, you can help fulfill the first portion of Education Planning Initiative. We are the first step in assisting you in helping students succeed!!
