Physical Education Waiver Two COMPLETED Seasons of: OHSAA Sponsored Sport Or Two COMPLETED Years of: Marching Band or AFJROTC You may not combine one PE course and one waiver. Sports may be combined or skipped years. Waivers will be automatically added to transcripts.
Eligibility for Sports/Activities 1.5 GPA for the quarter preceding season Must be passing 5 courses (PE does not count toward the 5 courses) Fall sports will be dependent on quarter 4 of 8th grade year Winter sports based upon quarters 1 and 2 – it all counts from the very first day!
5 Class Rule
Study Hall Students may choose to take a traditional Study Hall. There is no credit value awarded to a Study Hall. Students are encouraged to take a Study Hall in addition to House if they are involved in extra-curricular activities or have little time after school to study
Drop Policy Students will now only be able to drop courses ONE time during their high school career without penalty after the first two weeks of the start of a course. A “W” indicating Withdrawal from the course will be entered on the transcript. This does not affect the GPA. All courses dropped after this option is used, will result in an ‘F’ for the final grade. This will be entered on the transcript and will affect the GPA.

PowerSchool Registration Study Hall and PE Classes that are desired to be taken all year will only be able to be chosen once – student will need to notify Mrs. Scott (at our one-on-one meetings) if they wish to double up, and counselor can add in Power School

Dates to Remember Requests entered into PowerSchool by February 1st for Upcoming 9th Graders & by scheduling date for Upcoming 10th – 12th Graders Course request forms & applications are due February 1st for Upcoming 9th Graders & by February 17th for Upcoming 10th – 12th Graders Mrs. Scott will be at Dempsey February 6th -15th to review requests. Grade 10-12 counselors will begin scheduling in English classes February 2nd - 15th
Dates to Remember Any requests to change course selections must be submitted to your school counselor by August 15th at 3 PM. Students may only make ONE request to change their schedule. (Multiple changes can be made in this one request.) Students will only be able to change course requests to the alternate courses that are originally submitted to the counselor.

Students will meet with their counselor in February to finalize requests!
Schedules Will be available on PowerSchool in August Back to School Days will also be in August Students will able to have school pictures taken, pay fees, buy parking passes, and pick up a paper copy of their schedule
Freshman Orientation Will be in August Students will have the opportunity to spend more time at Hayes before school begins More information to come!
College Credit Plus is an initiative by the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Department of Higher Education to allow high school students to attain college credit up to 30 semester hours per school year tuition free at Ohio public institutions and a reduced cost at private institutions. Interested parents and students should remain for the College Credit Plus Information Night beginning at 7 PM to learn about how to qualify as well as benefits and risks.
