The answer to Job’s Trial The book of Job Job lived in the land of Uz around the time of Abraham 2,000 BC. The book of Job is a poem which conveys emotion; it is full of drama, dialogue and references to nature.

The story of Job Job 1:8 The lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, there is none like him in the earth…perfect and upright? Job 1:11 Put forth thine hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse thee to thy face. Job 2:5 Put forth thine hand and touch his bone and his flesh and he will curse thee to thy face.

The Story of Job Lost job; sheep, cattle, oxen, camels, financial ruin. Lost children (7 sons, 3 daughters). Sickness, boils from head to toe. Couldn’t understand why it happened to him, because he was righteous. God rewards the righteous and punishes the wicked. Job’s fiends believed that Job must deserve this punishment from God (miserable comforters).

The last 5 chapters of Job What changed Job’s position, what did he learn that caused him to be twice as blessed in the end? What did he fail to realize for 37 chapters? What can help us with things we are waiting for and help us understand when we or others go through a trial like Job?

Chapter 38 38:1 Then God answered Job out of the whirlwind and said … Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?

Chapter 38 38:18 Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? Declare if you know it all. 38:21 You know it because you were born then or because the number of thy days is great?

Job 40:2 Shall he that contends with the Almighty instruct him? 40:8 Will you disannul my judgement? Will you condemn me that you may be righteous? 32:2 Because Job justified himself rather than God.

Chapter 38 38:22 Hast thou entered into the treasure of the snow ..or the treasure of the hail,..or a way for lightning of thunder to cause it to rain. Has rain a father or who has begotten (produced) the drops of dew?

Chapter 38 38:26 To cause it to rain on the earth where no man is, on the wilderness wherein there is no man, to satisfy the desolate and waste ground.
