H.B.W’s Peer Leadership Club

What Can Peer Leaders Do For Our School?

What Is the Peer Leadership Club All About? Our Mission…. The Peer Leadership Club presents an opportunity for students to use their experience to influence and support their peers in a positive way. We will work together to create and deliver motivational messages to fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students emphasizing the importance of education and encouraging our fellow students to make good choices, treat others with respect, and stay away from drugs and alcohol.

What Is My Role As a Peer Leader? Being a role model for my peers and younger students in Verona Maintaining positive behavior in and out of school Not tolerating bullying in and out of school, in-person or on-line Encouraging my peers to treat others the way they want to be treated in and out of school Staying drug and alcohol free Welcoming fourth graders at the end of the year Helping to welcome incoming 5th graders Volunteering to be at the 5th grade social

Some of Our Activities/Ideas for this Year November - being thankful month write thank you letters to nurse, custodians, secretaries, and media specialist- daily messages Secret Agents of Kindness December - anti-violence month Team Building Trips Ropes Course in Verona Escape room in Montclair? Teaching/Organizing an Activity in 5th Grade Advisory Class

Good to Know! You must maintain a 1 or 2 for citizenship throughout the school year to be a peer leader. Meetings are two Thursdays each month (Dates will be posted on veronaschools website). Interview for acceptance. (Please sign up after the meeting - Final list will be posted outside of Room 220 so you know when your interview will be). 10/10, 10/11, 10/16, 10/17 If you are a peer leader at the middle school, it may help you to be accepted in the club once you get to high school (looks great for colleges!) You can view this presentation again if you visit veronaschools.org and find Ms. Lijoi’s or Ms. Paula’s teacher webpage. You will be given a cool t-shirt and bracelet!
