About Me This is my seventh year at Dana and I love it here! This year I am teaching Math 7 and Math 7/8. I go to Catalina and have been to OSS- ask me questions!
What is Math 7/8? 6th and 7th grade students learning all of 7th and 8th grade math Prepares students for Common Core Algebra Very rigorous, fast pacing Textbooks and materials Khan Academy Students are expected to maintain an A or B; students with a B- should strongly consider returning to their grade level class
My Goals for Math 7/8 this Year To have all of my students master the Common Core Math 7 and Math 8 standards To have my students develop an in-depth understanding of math To instill in my students perseverance and a strong work ethic To really engage my students in class
Expectations (Almost) nightly homework Tests and quizzes Information communicated in class and online
Grading Tests: 70% Quizzes: 25% Class Work: 5% Homework: reflected in work habits grade
Absent Students Should Pick up papers from the boxes in my room Look on my website Ask a friend Talk to me upon return Email me if they will be absent for a long time
Math Help Office Hours: posted on the board and on my website every Monday; can also be arranged by appointment Peer tutoring starts soon! Mondays and Thursdays 3:10 – 3:50 Tuesdays 3:15 – 4:00
What can you do to help your student? Ask about homework and check stamp sheets Check grades and assignments through PowerSchool Sign up for Remind101 (directions are on my website and were on syllabus) Check my website; know dates of tests and quizzes Encourage them to work on Khan Academy Email me with any questions!
