About ME This is my 15th year teaching, all at Los Al Sixth year with Calculus BC and fourth year with Precalculus Common Core Teacher on Special Assignment I love math and I love working here! The students are awesome and so is the support we get from YOU! My Family

What to Expect Calculus BC moves at a very quick pace – we must cover the entire book There is not much class time for going over homework, some time but not a lot! Students are responsible for checking their own work at home Answers are available at my website We learn new material almost every day Start class with a Warm-up Quiz

Class Policies Grade Breakdown Tests: 80% Homework: 10% - Based on completeness Other: 10% - Group quizzes, Notes, Warm-up Quizzes, Projects Allowed (if student has done 90% of homework overall) to drop one low test score first semester only Grades on a 90-80-70-60-50 scale A 89.50% is an A-  Projects after the AP Exam

What Students Need A “can-do” attitude Good work ethic, good study habits The knowledge that this course is based on the integrity and respect for our tests and work I will not tolerate cheating in any form!  Supplies: Note packet Any kind of paper for warm-ups and homework Graphing calculator – TI-84 is lovely!

Review for the AP TEST The AP test is Tuesday, May 9 Cost is $93 We have scheduled for 5 FULL weeks of review This is ample time for reviewing Most reviewing will be done in the normal class setting One Saturday in April will be dedicated to “sitting” for a full practice exam Utilizing review material from Calculus teacher Stu Schwartz and released free response and multiple choice questions

My Website I utilize the teacher webpage at the school’s website What is posted there Full management plan Test and Quiz dates – we will stick closely to the schedule! Assignments listed by chapter Answers to assignments

GETTING HELP I am available most days after school or during 5th and 6th period Students should form study groups if they have not done so already We offer Griffin Virtual Lab one or two nights before each exam Past Calc BC students run “Calculus Network” tutoring after school right before exams also

Closing Thoughts This is a class of VERY bright students and I will be expecting nothing but the best from them Please e-mail (best option) or call if you have any questions or concerns jfox@losal.org Consider a small “Helping Hand” classroom supply donation On the back window are options Thank you for entrusting us with your kids – I will strive to be the best for them!

Have a great evening! Thank you for coming!
