Fantastic Florida Year 5 – Term 1 English Poetry Writing and directing an advertisment – using persuasive language Journal writing Grammar focus – subject and verb agreement, use of adjectives, revisiting clauses, use of cohesion in paragraphs. Spelling – learning strategies and rules Year 5 – Term 1 Mathematics Place Value Number Sequences Written and mental strategies for addition and subtraction Multiplying by 10, 100, 1000 including decimals and fractions Whole school focus week - fractions Science Classification Stages in a life cycle (plant, human and animal) Using simple models to describe scientific ideas Music Listening and composition skills Fantastic Florida PE Invasion games – developing skills Dance – street dance – composition, improvisation, adaptation and performing dances to an audience.
