Pedigrees

Pedigrees Pedigrees are very similar to family trees except they show inheritance patterns of a trait in addition to connections between family members.

Showing Relationships Single line = married Double line = married to a relative Each row down is a new generation

Sex Linked Recessive Mainly in males Sons of affected females ALWAYS have it

Autosomal Dominant Generally appears in every generation Kids of an affected patent have a ~50% chance at getting the disease

Autosomal Recessive Doesn’t necessarily appear in every generation If two affected partents have the disease ALL of their children will have it as well
