Multiplying Rational Expressions Factor the numerators and denominators. (Not always necessary but it simplifies the expressions.) Multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators. Eliminate common factors by dividing. Write the answer in simplest form and state any restrictions on the variable(s).
Dividing Rational Expressions Multiply the dividend by the reciprocal of the divisor. Follow the steps to multiply rational expressions. Pay close attention to the restrictions.
