A little about Taylor Classic soccer club Hurdles and 4x4 There is nothing more important to me than family Believer in everything happens for a reason and always keep in mind everything ends eventually (motivation to get things done) Love to travel Boyfriend of over four years who has played a huge part in who I am today

A little about Jess I love all things Disney LOVE learning about history I have 3 wicked cool nephews: Asher and Micah (3 years old) are twins and Sam is 1. My family played a major role in shaping who I am today Aspiring writer Obsessed with quotes (like what famous dead people say. And alive people too. And they don’t necessarily have to be famous.)

Why we chose education Jess I love learning and I love school (when it’s not busy work) I LOVE READING!!! I feel every kid can love reading too, it’s just a matter of developing the tools that help them to read more effectively Taylor I have always loved teaching people things Played school like nobody’s business Want to make learning MEANINGFUL and ENJOYABLE so there is more value behind education

A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book the First: The Bad Beginning Resource: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book the First: The Bad Beginning Some videos: Movie Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fggw2spjaU8 Author Website: http://www.lemonysnicket.com Audiobook part 1 of 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXkhGJTJo3U

Strategy: Vocabulary Swap GOAL: Exposure and practice with challenging vocabulary words in a fun, engaging way STUDENT ROLE: Choose words they find challenging out of a story read with the class and create a game using them. STUDENT CHOICE is key here. TEACHER ROLE: Explain instructions and guide students as needed through process.

“Student” Example Lifeline Deck Example (back of card): “Sunny was at an age where one mostly speaks in a series of unintelligible shrieks.” p. 4 1 Definition Deck Example: Unintelligible (adj.): difficult or impossible to understand 1 Lifeline Deck Example (front of card): Lifeline 1: Synonyms unclear; jumbled 1

Some tips To maximize student experience while playing the game, here are a few tips: Remind children to use synonyms that are more simple and more common (therefore easier to recognize) for the Synonym Lifeline. For the Context Clue Lifeline, perhaps have children use the sentence in the book where the word occurs. Children can refer to their “Chapter Word List” worksheet in order to find the page where the word in question is.
