AH&LA Monday, September 26, 2016

Career Day Wednesday, Sept. 28 11am-4pm in the Campus Center Wear business professional attire Come with revised resumes Be confident!

The “Elevator pitch” A brief statement you can think of off the top of your head that will include: Name Where and what you are studying What you hope to do/what you are looking for (internship or career goal) Prior experience that may entice that person to want to know more or hire you

A professional resume One page! Very important!! Employers do not have time to flip through multiple pages of work! Most often they will not read past your first page, so make it all fit! List your most recent work experience first and follow with 2nd most recent, etc. Identify your title at the job (associate, supervisor, manager, etc.) Use descriptive, professional action words to describe your everyday duties at the job/internship Note your activities. This will include clubs (AH&LA, of course), sports teams, or active community service you are apart of with a brief description of the duties you fulfill while being apart of it. Skills- Only list skills you will feel comfortable performing if hired! For example, if you are not exemplary at Microsoft Excel, don’t say you are! Mention languages known, computer applications you can operate, or anything you think would be useful in a business environment. https://isenberg-umass.optimalresume.com/

some not-so professional resumes
