Presentation transcript:

Arctic Cordillera By: Andrew Slota and Dylan Anderson.

Land form Description A vast deeply dissected chain of mountain ranges of snow and rock extending along arctic Canada, through Nunavut, Labrador, and part of upper Quebec.

Climate During winter, the temp averages at -35 Celsius, with 200-300mm of precipitation, making it one of Canada’s most inhospitable climates.

Vegetation There is Very little vegetation, because of high elevations, and the extreme cold, causing a permanent layer of ice, although mosses and lichens cling to rocky surfaces.

Soils About 75% of the exposed soil is exposed bedrock, and the rest is mainly permafrost. This causes low levels of vegetation.

Wildlife

Additional info Population: 1200 major cities: Pond Inlet, Clyde River, and Broughton Island. Human activities- Hunting, bird watching, fishing and sailing. Interesting facts- -This Eco zone has one of the largest population of polar bears
