15/12/16 – 4/1/17 OPTIONAL Fortnightly homework Year 5 X I II III IV V 15/12/16 – 4/1/17 OPTIONAL Fortnightly homework Year 5 Practice your multiplication/division facts daily. Complete 3 grids throughout the fortnight as well! Can you complete each box in under 3 minutes? The times table you are practicing this week are the 2, 5, and 10’s! HOWEVER, YOU MUST COMPLETE THEM USING ROMAN NUMERALS!! X I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX XI XII   TIME X XII I XI III II IV IX VIII V VI VII   TIME Read daily - It could be a school book or a book of your choice. Try to read a wide range of materials such as information books, poems, stories, reports, recipes, instructions etc. Record your reading in your diary everyday. Spelling Result Last week’s winners of our spelling competition was Hockney with a class average of 7.4 Additional Activities – Re-write the 12 days of Christmas so that the presents are more modern. Think about why these presents are good ones, and try to make sure they fit the syllable pattern. Have a go at the Christmas co-ordinates on the back of the sheet. You will need to draw the axis accurately or get some squared paper and stick it into your books, once you have finished. Write down your favourite joke from your crackers. Also write down the worst. There are lots of these. Eat all your Christmas dinner. You only have this once a year, so make it count. Help with the housework. Lots of people visit at Christmas, so give a helping hand with the hoovering, washing up etc, as the house can get very messy. Sit down and have a good talk with a family member about school. Think about all the highlights from 2016 and things that you have enjoyed the most. Write down a new years resolution, that you will actually try and keep. Try and think of a school based one and we can see how you get on.
