What we’ve done What we’re doing What we’re doing next

Background Originally known as Chester Travelcard Introduced in July 2002 (Transport Act 2000 ‘mtc’) Unique, award-winning multi-operator commercial ticketing scheme Two basic products (period pass and FSA-approved STR), expanding to 7

Background Card - Mifare 1K (moving to 4K on ITSO) One transport mode (bus) Currently 4 operators (expanding to 8 over 13 operating depots) Successful operation for 3 years

ITSO Milestones achieved Jan 04: DfT Legacy bid successful Nov 04: ITSO scheme architecture defined and suppliers identified

ITSO Milestones achieved Jan 04: DfT Legacy bid successful Nov 04: ITSO scheme architecture defined and suppliers identified Jan 05: Card certification

ITSO Milestones achieved Jan 04: DfT Legacy bid successful Nov 04: ITSO scheme architecture defined and suppliers identified Jan 05: Card certification Feb 05: PERSO POST to HOPS interface completed

ITSO Milestones achieved Aug 05: PERSO POST certification completed Sep 05: 60% of commercial bus network in Cheshire equipped with ITSO ‘compatible-to-be-compliant’ ETMs

Conditional certification Cheshire led a phased implementation approach for ETM/POST suppliers Phased implementation of CMDs Phased implementation of IPEs Working closely with ETM/POST suppliers for conditional certification and testing in November.

Forthcoming milestones… First demonstration of ITSO supplier interoperability (2 ETM/POST suppliers, PERSO POST and HOPS/AMS) Establishment of Cheshire-wide ‘mtc’ under provisions of Transport Act 2000 Establishment of flexible basis for statutory concessionary scheme

Forthcoming milestones ITSO certification of HOPS/AMS late 2005 Launch conditionally ITSO-certified scheme in east of Cheshire Demonstration of scheme interoperability (live ITSO environment) Migration to full ITSO later in 2006

What we’ve done… Developed the successful existing scheme into a sound basis for ITSO application Pioneered the practical realisation of the ITSO specification with suppliers for the wider ITSO community

What we’re doing… Meeting LTP and e-government objectives Fulfilling legacy obligations to the DfT Laying the foundations for further transport and smartcard applications Building confidence in the ITSO concept

What we’re doing next… Bringing the ITSO concept to life Building the business case for statutory transport obligations and for wider citizen applications
