(4.2ish miles south-east) 1) Start at a point on the top left of your squared paper and follow these directions: 2 miles east 4 miles south 1 mile east 1 mile north 2) Can you give more efficient directions? The route doesn’t need to be the same. 3 miles east 3 miles south (4.2ish miles south-east)

  “2 to the left” “4 to the right and 5 down”  

To translate a shape, move one corner at a time. The new shape will be the same way around and the same size.  

Translate the shapes on your sheet, following the vector directions for each one.

  When written as vectors, translations can be combined simply by adding.
