Hebrews 10:24-25 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

“The 4 Words Every Man Needs to Live By” 1 Timothy 6:6-14 FLEE PURSUE FIGHT KEEP

“The Intentional Man” 8/27/15

Daniel

Daniel Daniel 1:8 (NIV) 8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.

Daniel Daniel 1:8 (NKJV) 8But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself…

5 Intentional Relationships Every Man Needs. Intentional Vertical Relationship

1. Intentional Vertical Relationship Mark 12:28-30 28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

2. Intentional Horizontal Relationships Mark 12:29-31 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Proverbs 27:17 (ESV) 17 Iron sharpens iron,     and one man sharpens another.

Every Intentional Man has these horizontal relationships: Boss (someone to hold you accountable) Coach (spiritual, financial, career) Counselor (marriage, emotional, parenting) Friends (tell you what you need to hear) Mentors (been there, done that; gives wisdom)

3. Intentional Financial Relationships

Matthew 6:19-21 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:24 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Proverbs 27:23-24 23 Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; 24 for riches do not endure forever,     and a crown is not secure for all generations.

Proverbs 22:7 7The rich rule over the poor,     and the borrower is slave to the lender.

Jesus talks more about the topic of money and the pursuit of stuff more than he talks about heaven, hell, faith, prayer – COMBINED! Of Jesus’ 38 parables, 16 of them deal with money or materialism.

Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

4. Intentional Family Relationships

Church has 40 hours a year to influence a life… Parent has 3,000 hours a year to influence a life…

Deuteronomy 6:4-8 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Your children spell love TIME: MORNING Time DRIVE Time MEAL Time BED Time

5. Intentional Legacy Relationships

Judges 21:25 (NLT) 25In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.

There are 4 generations of legacy and influence in this one verse… 2 Timothy 2:2 2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. There are 4 generations of legacy and influence in this one verse…   Paul to Timothy Timothy to Others Others to Reliable People Reliable People Teach Others
